FAQs
What is Lagree and how is it different to reformer Pilates?
Lagree is a low-impact, high-intensity full body workout that is designed to improve cardiovascular fitness, muscular strength and endurance, core strength, balance and flexibility.
Whilst the Lagree method is practiced on the Megaformer, a machine that was inspired by the Pilates reformer, the two disciplines differ greatly in their principles. The Lagree method utilises some of the concepts from Pilates, and combines this with elements from other fitness disciplines such as bodybuilding and strength training to create a truly unique workout.
Lagree classes are structured to reduce rest periods between exercises, utilising the time-under-tension principle from bodybuilding. This ensures that your muscles are engaged throughout the entire session. Rapid transitions between intricate movements keep your muscle fibers active as you move from one exercise to the next.
The Lagree Method also incorporates progressive overloading, a key technique in bodybuilding. Progressive overloading gradually intensifies the stress on your body during a workout, which continuously challenges your muscles. This approach helps prevent plateaus by steadily increasing muscle tension over time.
What level should I attend if I am new to Lagree?
Our classes are suitable for all levels! Whether you are a beginner or a long-time Lagree lover, our classes can be adapted to suit any level, while still encouraging you to challenge yourself! Our instructors provide multiple options for each exercise, allowing you to work at a level that feels right for you. With a maximum of 10 participants in each class, you can expect an individualised experience where your instructor pays close attention to your form and pace.
It’s my first time in class, what do I need to know?
Firstly, welcome!
Arrival: Please arrive 10-15 minutes before your class starts so that we can show you around the studio and introduce you to the Megaformer.
What do I need to bring?: A positive attitude and an open mind!
We provide towels and a chilled water station for filling up your water bottle. Please wear comfortable clothing that allows you to move easily, think similar to what you might wear to a yoga or Pilates class.
Do I need Grip Socks?: Grip socks are required for class. You are more than welcome to bring your own, and we also have some available for purchase at the studio.
Parking: There is free one and two hour street parking available on Gilbert street and surrounding streets next to the studio. There is also a paid car park nearby.
What is the Coffee Lounge?
Reward yourself for all of your hard work on the Megaformer with a freshly brewed coffee from our in-studio cafe. Pre-order your drink before class and we’ll have it ready for you after your class!
What does ‘Brew’ Mean?
When purchasing a package that includes a Brew at every class, this simply means a coffee or tea.
How do I book a class?
Classes can be booked through our website and the Mind Body Online booking system. To book a class, you will need to create an account with Mind Body and purchase either a single class, class pack or membership. You can then book your classes online and choose a day and time that suits you!
How often should I attend class?
This can vary from person to person based on external factors such as work/family commitments, sleep, stress, lifestyle etc. Most people report noticeable changes in their strength and endurance when attending 2-3 classes per week, however, it is also important to listen to your body and allow time for rest and recovery as needed. The most significant factor in any exercise routine is maintaining consistency over time, whether that be one, two or four classes per week!
What is your cancellation policy?
We have a 12 hour cancellation policy. If you know you will not be able to make a class, please cancel your reservation accordingly at least 12 hours in advance. Late cancellations or no-shows will result in loss of class credit. Should you need to cancel a class, please do so by logging into your account through our website. Please understand we have this policy so that other clients do not miss out on classes. However, we do realise that life can be unexpected and sometimes unforeseen circumstances arise. If you do need to get in touch with us about a class cancellation, please email lucy@corebrewlagree.com.
How does the waitlist work?
If the class you want to book is full, we recommend adding your name to the waitlist for that class. If a spot becomes available, you will receive a text and/or email notification that you have been added to the class. If you are then unable to attend that particular class, please cancel your booking if you are added to the class, or remove your name from the waitlist so that the place can be offered to another client.
Can I attend classes if I am pregnant?
Pregnancy is a highly personal experience, and no two pregnancies are exactly alike. While we welcome pregnant clients to join regular group classes during their first trimester, it’s important to consult with your healthcare provider beforehand to ensure it's safe for you. Please let us know if you are pregnant, either in the studio or via email.
We are very excited to soon be providing both pre-natal and post-natal specialised classes, and would encourage you to attend these classes if you are in your second or third trimester of pregnancy, or returning to exercise post-partum.

What if I have an injury, can I still join a class?
One of the benefits of the Lagree method is that it is a low-impact workout that avoids excessive strain on the joints and connective tissues, and is able to be easily tailored to different fitness levels or injuries. All of our instructors are able to provide modifications for exercises as needed in the presence of injury. If you do have an injury, we always recommend first talking with your health professional before joining a class. Please let your instructor know about your injury before the class, and keep open communication with them throughout to let them know if things aren’t feeling right.
What is the difference between a class pack and a class membership?
A class pack includes a set number of classes, which can be used within a certain time-frame. For example, our 10 class pack can be used within three months. Class packs are a great option if you need a little bit more flexibility with how often you attend classes.
A class membership is an ongoing rolling membership that is billed monthly. It allows for a certain number of classes each month. For example, our 12 class membership allows you to attend 12 classes per month, each month. Class memberships are a great option if you are already attending classes regularly each week (for example 2-3 times a week).
Our Core+Brew class packs and class memberships include a set number of classes, plus a hot drink of your choice included with each class.
Is there an age limit?
Any one can attend a class, however, you do need to be 18 or older. If you are under 18, you can attend with a parent or guardian.
When I book it is saying ‘ CoreBrew has set pre-requisites what does this mean?
